Black Family Magic Takes Centerstage In The New Netflix Series ‘Family Reunion’

Going to get the belt, five-hour-long Sunday sermons, good food and lots of love are the nostalgic feelings Netflix is looking to give viewers with its new series, Family Reunion.

Created by producer Meg DeLoatch, who has brought us other Black family classics like Family Matters and One on One, Family Reunion stars Loretta Devine, Tia Mowry-Hardrict, Anthony Alabi and Richard Roundtree as a multi-generational family learning to live together under the same roof.

In the premiere episode, Cocoa (Mowry-Hardrict), her former football-playing husband Moz (Alabi) and their four children travel from Seattle to the small town of Columbus, Georgia, to stay with their grandparents for the McKellan Family Reunion.
Hilarity ensues as the family adjusts to life in the south and gets a much-needed reintroduction to Black family culture and learn that sometimes there really is no place like home.
