Gordon Ramsay is making his Masterchef UK debut tonight and fans of the show all have the same reaction

Viewers tuning in to the latest episode of Masterchef were left baffled during the preview for the next edition as it featured everyone’s favourite sweary chef – Gordon Ramsay.

As the credits rolled on Tuesday, May 3 on the hit cooking show, the all too familiar Masterchef voiceover announced that the finalists would face “their most daunting challenge yet” – Chef’s Table under the guidance of Ramsay.

In a teaser for the next episode on Wednesday, May 4, the 55-year-old is seen telling the finalists to “get some energy in here,” in typical Ramsay style.

Following the teaser for Ramsay’s appearance, fans were left confused as to why he was showing up on Masterchef, which features Gregg Wallace and John Torode as the judges.

Gordon Ramsay will put the Masterchef finalists through their paces on Wednesday night

@Sedona_Red wrote on Twitter: “Gordon Ramsay as a mentor on Masterchef?! Somewhere there is a very sadistic producer”. Elsewhere, people criticised the BBC for letting Ramsay appear on the programme.

@Dorina335 questioned: “Seriously…you couldn’t find a better human being who is also an empathetic person? If he appears again you’ve lost me as a viewer.”

Despite some fans slamming the star’s forthcoming appearance, others were happier at the BBC’s choice. @EdenianVice wrote: “Gordon Ramsay is definitely one of the influential teachers in cooking.”

Of course, this wasn’t Gordon Ramsay’s first foray in a Masterchef kitchen. Since 2010, he has hosted the American version of the show on Fox. The star, who is known for being aggressive with contestants, has shown a softer side in his appearance on Masterchef Junior – a children’s spin off of the programme.

Ramsay, who made television fame from his appearance on Kitchen Nightmares, has hosted a number of BBC shows over the past year including a failed game show, Gordon Ramsay’s Bank Balance and more recently, Gordon Ramsay’s Future Food Stars. He made headlines recently when he was left baffled by a Welsh contestant on Future Food Stars for serving honey to a vegan. You can read more about that here.

Ruthin chef Ioan Jones’ Japanese dish wasn’t up to scratch

Back on Masterchef on Tuesday and Welsh fans were left gutted as Ruthin finalist Ioan Jones was booted from the show.

Ioan had been inspired by Tom Daley as he prepared a Japanese-themed beef fillet based on the Team GB diver’s time in Japan. “This is a real celebration of all that is LGBTQ+,” Ioan said of the dish. Unfortunately, the dish was criticised for its presentation with Wallace comparing it to “meat and two veg”.
