The Good Doctor Season 7 Cast Adds House Actor

The Good Doctor will feature yet another House veteran on the show. The ABC medical drama, which stars Freddie Highmore as a young surgeon with autism, was created by David Shore, who previously created House, an eight-season medical show starring Hugh Laurie in the title role as an acerbic but brilliant doctor. The Good Doctor has featured quite a few crossovers in the past, including appearances by former House stars Lisa Edelstein, Beau Garrett, and John Patrick Amedori.

Per TVLine, a new cast member has joined The Good Doctor season 7. Another House vet will be joining the show as a guest star on season 7, episode 2, “Skin in the Game,” which premieres on February 27. Peter Jacobson, who played Dr. Chris Taub on House, will now be taking on the role of Sal Zacharia, a patient who ends up in San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital after a car accident and whose gambling addiction spills over into his approach to his own health. Everywhere You’ve Seen Peter Jacobson

The role that Jacobson is likely best known for is his stint on Fox’s House. He joined the cast in season 4 as plastic surgeon Dr. Chris Taub, staying on through the conclusion of the show in season 8. By the time the show reached its series finale, he was the longest-running main cast member beyond season 1 stalwarts Jesse Spencer, Omar Epps, Robert Sean Leonard, and Hugh Laurie himself.
While his experience on House will make him a good asset for The Good Doctor season 7, he has much more television experience in addition to that role. After House ended, he appeared on a wide variety of television titles, including 10 episodes of Ray Donovan, 12 episodes of The Americans, and 36 episodes of The Colony. Other recent roles of his include major arcs on NCIS: Los Angeles and Fear the Walking Dead.

Over the years, his various roles have added up to nearly 100 movie and television credits. Because of this, Jacobson has long since proven that he has the ability to step into either long-term or short-term roles in a wide variety of genres. Even though The Good Doctor will be flipping the script by making him a patient rather than a doctor, this likely won’t prevent him from slipping comfortably into the role given his experience.
