Although only five episodes have aired as of the writing of this article, The Rookie season 6 has featured numerous romantic developments, and one couple is seemingly heading towards an end in the upcoming episodes. The ABC procedural crime series, created by Alexi Hawley, debuted its sixth season’s premiere in February 2024 (following production delays related to the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes), which addressed the season 5 finale’s cliffhanger. Although the show hasn’t made much progress on the mysterious villain story introduced in the Rookie season 6 premiere, the episodes have been full of intriguing storylines, including relationship drama.
The Rookie’s 100th episode (aka season 6, episode 2) revolved around John Nolan and Bailey Nune’s wedding and touched on the tension between Tim Bradford and Lucy Chen. Episode 3 focused on Nolan and Bailey encountering a dangerous criminal on their honeymoon. The Rookie season 6, episode 4 further teased a possible romance between Aaron Thorsen and Blair London, his LAPD-assigned psychiatrist. So, the only couple who haven’t encountered any excitement or drama is Angela Lopez and Wesley Evers (but it’s understandable because they just had a baby). Sadly, one of these romances may be ending soon.
Tim & Lucy Got Into Another Fight In The Rookie Season 6, Episode 5
At the beginning of The Rookie season 6, episode 5, “The Vow,” Tim received a mysterious call during one of his and Lucy’s date nights and abruptly left her apartment. Of course, Lucy was worried about her boyfriend, who was, unbeknownst to her, meeting with a man from his past in the military (Mark Greer) about a previously agreed-upon revenge plot involving murdering someone named Ray. Tim and Greer took a vow (hence the episode’s title) to kill Ray, but, Tim had no interest in following through with their plan once he became a cop.
While all this was happening, Lucy wondered what Tim was going through as he was AWOL and not answering her calls for 36 hours. Even when Tim finally showed up at Lucy’s apartment, he refused to give her an answer in The Rookie season 6, episode 5. So, the fan-favorite couple got into an intense argument, and she kicked him out. Tim insisted he couldn’t tell her anything because it would jeopardize her career, but she wouldn’t accept that as an answer. Unfortunately, this wasn’t Tim and Lucy’s first fight this season.
Tim & Lucy’s Season 6 Storyline Is Seemingly Leading Up To A Breakup
The premiere of The Rookie season 6 ended with Tim and Lucy fighting about her taking the detective’s exam. Lucy thought he wanted her to fail and was purposefully sabotaging her, and Tim couldn’t believe she would think he would do that to her. The couple made up at Nolan and Bailey’s wedding in The Rookie season 6, episode 2. However, Tim also admitted that he had reservations about Lucy going undercover because of his past with Isabel. Lucy ultimately passed the detective’s exam but ranked low, meaning she has little chance of becoming a detective.
