Tom Selleck doesn’t want Blue Bloods to end ahead of series finale: ‘We’re not out of ideas’

Blue Bloods is about to launch its 14th and final season, but Tom Selleck is not quite ready to say goodbye to the Reagan family.
“CBS will find an awful lot of people aren’t ready to say goodbye to it,” Selleck told TV Insider of the intergenerational cop show that has run for nearly a decade and a half. “The show’s more popular than ever, and I think [numbers] will increase with the interest this year. We’re certainly not out of ideas.”

The actor does not sound like someone ready to say farewell to a show that first hit the airwaves in 2010. “I’m not counting the days so I can do something else,” Selleck continued after being asked if he was ready to retire. “I love the work. Sometimes the hours are a little harder because I’m older, but so what? I want work as long as they’ll have me.”
This isn’t the first time Selleck has lamented the anticipated end of Blue Bloods, which also stars Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, and Len Cariou. When it was announced that this would be the show’s final run, Selleck released a statement to fans. “For the past 13 years, it has been an honor and a privilege to work on a show that not only celebrates the men and women who protect and serve in New York City, but also displayed the importance of family,” he wrote. “Working alongside these incredible actors, writers, producers, directors, and crew has been a dream come true and I’m grateful to have been a part of this extraordinary group for over 275 episodes.”

The first half of Blue Bloods season 14 begins on February 16, and the second half is scheduled to come out later this year.
