“We are ready”: Game of Thrones Spinoff Taps Black Mirror Director Who’s the Only One Worthy Enough to Erase the Season 8 Stain

Game of Thrones was a phenomenon back when it first aired. The HBO series, based on George RR Martin’s novels, would go on to enthrall fans for years, making fans fall in love with Westeros (not with its inhabitants though). It all seemed to be going well, until, well…, Season 8 happened. The fandom, which couldn’t contain its excitement for the culmination of the series, was not to be found after the finale of the show aired. HBO knew they had messed up, and they are now taking steps to set things right, including hiring Black Mirror director, Owen Harris.

HBO knew that it would have to take a lot of steps in order to breathe some life into the fandom that had lost its voice. As a part of their grand strategy to revamp the franchise, they have come up with a roster of shows to exorcize the ghosts of Season 8 of Game of Thrones, once and for all.
Safe to say that the House of the Dragons has gone a long way to allay those ghosts. Fans are all in to witness the fabled Dance of the Dragons unfold on screen. And HBO is trying to leave no stone unturned. The upcoming release of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is set to be another step in this direction, offering something new for the fans of Game of Thrones.
The upcoming series, starring Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell in the leading roles, is going to take fans on a different journey. The series will explore an aspect of the world of Westeros that fans have not been able to witness. While the two shows we’ve seen yet take us on two epic sagas, with the fate of the entire kingdom at stake, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is all set to go down a different road.
Harris has also joined the show as an executive producer, meaning that he’ll be in a position to oversee the creative direction of the series in the long run. And fans couldn’t be more excited for the inclusion.
Seems like fans are ready to sail past the ignominy of Season 8, a stain that HBO Studio thinks they’ve finally washed away for good. Only time will tell how the franchise fares over the years to come. But with Harris’s inclusion, they have taken a step in the right direction, to bring back the old days when fans couldn’t contain their excitement at the mere mention of Game of Thrones.
