CHUBB ROCK STRESSES THE IMPORTANCE OF RAPPERS HELPING EACH OTHER OUT

In an exclusive interview with Rock The Bells, Chubb Rock recalled a time when he was given inspiration from Big Daddy Kane and Biz Markie. “I got frustrated one night and I told my Mom ‘I’m not leaving this basement until find a hit’ Chubb remembered of the early days of his career. “I sampled James Brown and ‘Caught Up In A one Night Love Affair’ and we came up with ‘Caught Up’ and that gave us a street buzz. Everything was a build up.”

Chubb then shared that his journey to success was due to the kindness of other people.

“I remember Big Daddy Kane and Biz Markie helping me through an Apollo performance because no one knew my record and I remembered that they booed Luther Vandross there, the best singer in the world,” he said. “I didn’t think it was gonna go well. Kane and Biz told me that I was gonna kill it. When guys like that who were at the top of the heap at that time embrace you, those moments stand out so strong.
